Sega Revenue Drops 6%, Losses Reach ¥11.3B

Sega Sammy has released its earnings report for the fiscal year that ended on March 31. Revenue dropped 6.1 percent year-over-year to 354.9 billion Yen. Profits also dropped from 30.7 billion Yen to a loss of 11.3 billion Yen.

Retail sales of Sega games did increase 41 percent year-over-year to 12.3 million units. Only 2.1 million games were sold in Japan. Sega is currently selling 117 mobile games in Japan and plans to release another 47 by March 2016.

Sega's gaming division earned a total of 111 billion Yen for the full fiscal year, while operating income hit 4 billion Yen. That is double what it was a year ago. Revenue from retail sales accounted for 44.8 billion Yen, while sales from digital games accounted for 44.7 billion Yen.
