Square Enix has released its earnings report for the company's fiscal year, which ended on March 31. Revenue increased 8.3 percent to ¥167.9 billion, while profits jumped 49 percent to ¥9.8 billion.
The Digital Entertainment segment accounted for more than two thirds of the firm's total revenue. This segment saw revenue jump 18.4 percent to ¥111.9 billion. Operating income increased 61.3 percent to ¥17.2 billion.
Despite improved revenue it was a slow year for big console releases (Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn was the biggest release during this fiscal year). The next fiscal year, which ends in March 2016, will feature more significant releases and this is expected to result in a stronger financial year for Square Enix.
