Yooka-Laylee Most Funded UK Kickstarter Game Ever, Tops £1.5 Million

The Kickstarter campaign for Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor Yooka-Laylee has set a new record. The game has raised £1.58 Million ($2.4 million) from nearly 50,000 backers.

That figure is enough for the game to be classed as the most funded UK Kickstarter campaign of all time. The previous record was held by Elite: Dangerous.

"The response to Yooka-Laylee has been incredible and from all of us here at Playtonic, we really want to say a huge, warm ‘thank you’ to everyone who has helped us exceed our goal," said Playtonic’s creative lead Gavin Price. "The enthusiasm and support from the community has been truly humbling. We’re now in a fantastic position to make Yooka-Laylee at the level and scope that the fans have demanded."
