Bart's Reviews- DmC: Devil May Cry

After playing the first four games, I was ecstatic to see that the series I had grown fond of was going to have a reboot. I had rented this game with very high hopes, and I was very impressed with the game. Even though it was as stylish and fancy as all of the other games, it didn't FEEL like a DmC game. While playing I had the thought that it would have been better off as its own game, not a reboot. But the game was still brilliant. The graphics were fantastic, almost making Devil May Cry 4 feel like a PS2 games. The combat was a deadly as ever, and even more stylish. With the ability to easily switch between the demonic and angelic weapons at your disposal, using the left and right trigger buttons. But once you start using them, it starts to become difficult to switch back to the revamped Rebellion and the guns Ebony & Ivory, which require you to release the buttons. All of the weapons have their own styles and combos that you need to level up, and sometimes it starts to become overwhelming with everything you need to do to collect the skill points to spend. But it is very satisfying to upgrade all of the weapons and watch them become stronger with more moves to use. The hidden items give you an excuse to replay past missions and search every nook and cranny with your future abilities. The story was more immerse than in past games, with emotions flaring. The story is vastly different than the original games, in which Vergil, Dante's twin brother, is still alive and working against Mungus, the demon king who has come back from the first game. The story between the two brothers is revealed gradually, and so is the lore of the game with subtle hints and beautiful story telling. The music in this game had a very acquired taste in the sense that it had a more Dubstep-y feel to it. It accented the game well, but not as well as the more Rock and Roll musics in the first game had. Overall, this was a great game, possibly even better than the originals. It had a more human feel than the last games did, and a lot more violence and style. If the sequel follows in this games footsteps, then we have a lot to look forward to when it is released.
