Popular streaming website Twitch is now, for the first time, allowing users to purchase games through the website. The upcoming rogue-like action game Nuclear Throne is the first game to be available to purchase from Steam via Twitch.
A page on The Nuclear Throne website says:
"You can now buy access to the Steam build, Vlambeer emoticons and a subscription to our Twitch.tv channel through Twitch.tv itself. If you're interested in learning about game development, this is where you should buy the game. 60 per cent of revenue goes to us.”
For comparison's sake, Steam gives developers 70% of revenue, while the Humble Bundle gives them 90%, so they remain better ways of supporting the developers themselves, but an additional revenue stream will no doubt be welcome nonetheless.
