TGS '14 - Halo 2 Remastered's Multiplayer Shines Bright

Halo: The Master Chief Collection brings together all four numbed games in the Halo series to the Xbox One this fall. Of these four games, Halo 2 will be presented in HD for the first time with completely remastered visuals to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Halo 2 was the definitive multiplayer shooter experience for Xbox Live at the time of its release. Microsoft allowed gamers to relive some of the game's epic multiplayer stand-offs at their booth at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. I was able to play 8-person rounds of Team Slayer and Free-for-All.

The map we were able to play on was Zenith - one of the smaller ones but perfect for a match of this size. We were divided into the familiar red team vs. blue team factions and went about trying to decimate the other team. And decimate we did, by a margin of 50-8. Halo 2 now feels slowly placed compared to modern multiplayer shooters, giving it a very retro vibe despite the graphical overhaul. I was content dual-wielding my sub-machine guns and finishing off an enemy with a melee kill if they got too close...
