Travis Baldree and Erich Schaefer, former developers at both Blizzard North (Diablo, Diablo II) and Runic Games (Torchlight, Torchlight II), have revealed their latest project - Rebel Galaxy.
Rebel Galaxy is a sci-fi RPG that will feature massive ships packed with NPCs which you can navigate through multiple, randomly-generated galaxies. The ships will be fully customisable, with shields, weapons, engines and so on all being adjustable, and you will of course be able to engage in full space warfare.
Travis and Erich's Diablo roots will also make a mark in the form of loot drops, and inspiration from the Mass Effect series can be seen in the form of diplomatic dialogue trees. For an extensive write-up on Rebel Galaxy, including comments from the developers themselves, check out Polygon's feature article.
Rebel Galaxy is set to release on Windows PC and PlayStation 4 next year, although given the ambitious nature of the project and the fact that Travis and Erich are pretty much developing it by themselves (as Double Damage Games), don't be surprised if it gets pushed back.
