Mao is the #1 Honor Student and son of the chairman at the Evil Academy in Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice. His goal in life is to defeat his father, the Overlord, and therefore steals Almaz's title. Unfortunately, Almaz is not a real hero, only an ordinary guardsman, and Mao is defeated. Realizing that he needs to open his heart to truly obtain Almaz's title, Mao sets out on a journey to open his heart.
A typical demon, Mao doesn't care about the problems of others and will often take what he wants by force. His blatant disregard of rules, lack of attendance in class, and refusal to participate in any school activity has earned him the title of #1 Honor Student.
He was introduced as a playable character in the PSP re-release of Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories, known as Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days, and Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten via DLC.
