The Wizard, along with the Sorceress, is one of the two magic users in Dragon's Crown. They share similar playstyles, but there are a few notable differences between them. The magic attacks are mapped to the circle button, with the ability to have them be stronger with the button being held down.
The Wizard's spells are more powerful, despite the Sorceress' having status effects on them, but he also has access to more than just that. He can create a golem from a wooden box, as well as slow down the movements of enemies. His main difference from the Sorceress is his evasive maneuver, which is a teleport. This helps out when things get hectic during the bigger fights, as he can use this to avoid taking damage.
