Defensive Tips
Here are some defensive tips that will help when enemies start attacking you
Place archers on towers as this will help give them extra range when enemies get close to your castle
Utilize traps to your advantage Use pitch ditches at the right time to devastate your opposition You can also use traps to dwindle the numbers of enemy archers before they make it to your walls
Make sure to have some kind of defenses on all sides so the enemy doesnt surprise you when attacking your weak sides
Place braziers on wall so you can use flaming arrows which do more damage Also section off parts of your castle and line the walls with archers this will make sure that enemies coming from that direction are swarmed with arrows
Dont forget about bears and wolves as they can wreak havoc on your town if you dont know theyre coming
Strategically place walls so that attackers that arent backed up by siege equipment are tricked into traps and swarmed by ranged attacks
Offensive Tips
These tips will help you when you lead your army on the offensive front
Make sure you keep your Armored Peasants at the front as they are a great way to trigger log traps and pitch ditches
Never attempt to launch your attack against the front of a castle as its your best bet to find a weak spot in its defense and concentrating on that Also attack from a distance with a trebuchet while you use your other units to attack One of the better choices is to attack the castles rear
Use either mantlets or groups of peasants to protect key units like battering rams Mantlets can also be used to cover archers when youre moving around
Keep your ranged units like Men at Arms at the rear of your forces Keep your siege weapons behind your attacking forces so they dont get taken out while trekking to the enemys castle
Use diseased animals to disrupt the economy of your enemy and it can also kill enemy troops
Unit Tips
Here are some tips that will help you understand your units better
Your Lord is quite the powerful unit being able to take care of bears wolves and armed peasants Be sure he doesnt get outnumbered though as the game is over if he dies
Armed Peasants are great fodder for drawing enemies into range of your more powerful units as they are weak and will die quickly If Peasants arent armed make sure that they have jobs to do because they will sit idle and consume your food
Men at Arms are useful for taking down walls and tower units They also are useful for hitandrun tactics as their throwing spears are powerful and require time to recharge
Macemen are one of the fastest melee units while Archers are one of the fastest ranged units
Crossbowmen are expensive since they cost honor to train but they are one of the most powerful ranged units and especially effective against armored troops
It should be obvious that Archers and Men at Arms are not effective at close combat as their closeranged attacks are weak as is their health
