Earth Defense Force 2025 is a third person shooter developed by Sandlot and published by D3 Publisher. It is set to release in Japan sometime in 2013, as well as North America and Europe sometime in 2013, on Playstation 3 and XBox 360.
Earth Defense Force 2025 is the latest entry in the Earth Defense Force series, with the last game, Insect Armageddon, not being developed by Sandlot. It was first announced in December of 2010, but in name only. It wasn't until July 24, 2012 that a teaser site was put up, then the first details released in September of 2012.

Story
In 2017, the humans made contact with alien life forms. In response to them, the aliens attacked the humans. It was the Earth Defense Force that began their counterattack, although the aliens eventually pinned the humans into a corner. In a desperate attempt, the humans made a strike at the mothership and without it, the aliens left.
Gameplay
Earth Defense Force 2025 is a third person shooter, with an emphasis on shooting enemies and surviving. You control one of four different classes, with access to plenty of missions where the main objective is to destroy all of the enemies. If the game follows previous entries, then each mission will have multiple difficulties that can be set, including Inferno which is the hardest.
Classes
At the moment, players will be able to choose from three different classes, each with their own unique abilities. It's not yet known whether each class with have their own unique weapons or not yet.

Weapons
Weapons are one of the draws for players to the Earth Defense Force series. Weapons range from standard ones, like assault rifles and rocket launchers, to unusual ones, like those that fire lasers. There aren't any specifics yet as to what weapons will appear in the game, other than what's been in trailers and screenshots.
Vehicles
Earth Defense Force 2025 is going to be host to a lot more vehicles than in previous games, with different varieties and a lot of firepower.
Enemies
Earth Defense Force 2025 has plenty of enemies you will be wanting to blast, some of them being ones seen before and some of them even being new. Enemies come in many different varieties and in many different sizes. The following is just some of the enemies you will encounter in the game.
